Nentir Chronicles

Trouble at Home
A not so quick resupply.

The group continued further into the keep, first encountering a small group of mining goblins and their guard drakes. They overheard the goblins complaining about something or someone named “Balgron.” They then turned deeper into the dungeon where the keep gave way to a natural cave. In this cave they were attacked by swarms of giant rats which were eventually scared off by an Ochre Jelly. After an epic battle the party destroyed their foe and agreed to return to Winterhaven to resupply. Upon arrival they found Winterhaven to be walled off. Somehow the dead at the nearby cemetary had risen and were attacking the outlying farms. The group went to investigate and found the spy Ninaran there on orders from Kalarel. They disrupted the black magic that was raising the dead and then attempted to kill Ninaran, who narrowly escaped and fled back to the keep.

Into the Dark
What lies in the keep...?

The party proceeded into the lair behind the waterfall and slew the kobold warren. During that fight they battled Irontooth who expressed fanatical devotion to “Orcus” and “Kalarel.” After searching his person they found a letter addressed to Irontooth by Kalarel warning him of possible interlopers in town that had been reported by his spy there. It also mentioned a rift that would spill forth the minions of Orcus into the area. Worried about the spy they went back to Winterhaven and searched the place. They were rewarded handsomely by Padraig for their efforts and went to Wrafton’s Inn to celebrate. Suspicious of the local elf maidens, Ninaran and Delphina, Torment seduced them and banged the crap out of them. While they were indisposed Torment slipped the keys to the other three who tossed both residences. Delphina was innocent but a letter to Kalarel was recovered at Ninaran’s warning of the party destroying Irontooth. Meanwhile Ninaran became suspicious of Torment and escaped out the back window running towards the keep. The party pursued into the first floor of the catacombs and engaged a group of goblins guarding the entry way…and rats.

Problems in Winterhaven
The story begins...

The group was approaching Fallcrest accompanying Torment to swear his services to Lord Markelhay. They were intercepted by Delphina Moongem of Winterhaven with a message from Torment’s former master Valthrun urging him to head back to Winterhaven. En route the crew were accosted by a small band of kobolds patrolling the road. When they reached Winterhaven and Valthrun they were told of possible goings on at the keep north of town as well as the nature of the kobold attacks. At the tavern than night they befriended a elf hunter named Ninaran who assurred them the rumors of evil goings on at the Keep are superstition but urged them to hunt the kobolds. The lord of Winterhaven, Padraig, told them of the danger of the kobolds and sent them in the direction of their ellusive lair. After some tracking they found a path frequented by the kobolds and ambushed them, capturing one called Akrosh and grilling him for information. They learned of Irontooth, a goblin lieutenant present at the burning of Thorn’s forest who is leading the kobolds from their lair beneath a waterfall but is answering to someone higher up. They knocked him unconcious and headed for the waterfall. The kobolds outside the waterfall were slain easily, though they somehow knew they were coming…
